The Center for the Study of the Gulf South (CSGS) promotes the study of the history of the US South and territories in Central America and the Caribbean through scholarship, funding research and hosting public 事件. We offer strengths in several critical eras:—the colonial Gulf South, slavery and abolition, the Civil War era, and the Civil Rights Movement and other mobilizations for citizenship and equality. 教师 and graduate students of the CSGS regularly present their work at leading academic conferences, in online forums, and on-campus. We’re proud to be the host institution of the Gulf South Historical Foundation.
